“I'm
encouraged by Western's ambition to guide
local filmmakers toward making features
worthy of competition in the major film
market. With Western's support, there's
a lot more that can be accomplished.”
The
IFG will finish 2003 with two six-week
programs focused on professional screenwriting.
After
the new year, the IFG and WWU have plans
to develop programs for directors, producers
and crew –precursors to an annual Summer
Film Institute.
“With
the support of the cities, businesses,
and residents in and around Whatcom County
, we'd like to see our local filmmakers
eventually churn out at least one feature-length
film a year,” projects WWU Certificate
Programs Director, Lois Longwood.
“One
film we can all herald as it travels on
the road to distribution.”
