LOCAL WRITERS HAVE

SCREENPLAY PRODUCED

WHATCOM COUNTY , WA -

On March 15, 2003 the theatre lights will dim and professional film actors will take the stage.

No, this isn't a play... it's a movie!

Starting at 6:30 PM in the Encore room, located at 112 West Champion St. in Bellingham, WA , the Indie Film Group (IFG) and the Mount Baker Theatre will co-host a professional Script Read of COUGAR RIDGE, a feature-length family film written by Bellingham residents Catherine Roeder and Terry Halligan.

A networking reception will follow the event.   Admission is only $5 and will be open to the general public.  For tickets, contact The Mount Baker Theatre at (360) 734-6080.

COUGAR RIDGE, set in the Pacific Northwest , is the story of a troubled teen hustled off to an adventure camp where he gains self-respect and the confidence to deal with the problems that haunt him.

Produced by the Indie Film Group, COUGAR RIDGE will be performed by an all-star cast of credited film actors and directed by Warren Etheredge, the founder of Seattle 's industry gem, The Warren Report .

Etheredge, a published author and credited director, is also the curator for Bumbershoot's 1 Reel Film Festival and Seattle 's monthly screening series entitled SNEAK .

Catherine Roeder, a copywriter for Bellingham 's Cascade Radio Group, co-wrote COUGAR RIDGE while attending the 2001 IFG Screenwriters' Boot Camp.

Since then, COUGAR RIDGE has received attention from L.A. and from a Seattle Producer.

“This will certainly be a big night of entertainment in Bellingham ,” promises David T. Adams, Educational Coordinator for the IFG and Producer of the event.

“This will also be an excellent opportunity to show how local businesses can bring the film industry into this area –something Bellingham is very interested in doing for Whatcom County .”

With support from its industry related sponsors (The Warren Report, 911 Media Arts and Northwest Film Forum), the IFG expects to attract production companies, studios, directors, actors, talent agencies, and other industry related businesses.

“With this kind of fun networking environment, anything can happen!” Adams says.
